Scilab 6.0.0-alpha 1 Release

Scilab team is happy to announce the release of the first alpha version of Scilab 6.0   Scilab 6.0.0 is a major new release of Scilab, the open source platform for numerical computation. This 6.0.0-alpha-1 release, is a preview for developers, partners and community evaluation. As an alpha, this release is not yet ready for production usage. If you are new to Scilab, or if you are simply a user of Scilab, you should probably continue using the 5.5.2 release, and wait for a beta version before trying the 6 family.  However, if you have already developed code on Scilab, or if you are an ex

Scilab-Arduino Workshop in India

3-4 July 2015, IIT Bombay The FOSSEE team at IIT Bombay is conducting a two-day (3-4 July 2015) workshop on Arduino control through Scilab. Participants will learn to perform embedded system experiments on the Arduino board using Arduino IDE, Scilab script and Xcos. The workshop kit will include an Arduino UNO board, a shield containing sensors and actuators, and necessary documentation. The participants are expected to bring a Windows or a Linux based laptop with Scilab installed.  For registration, please visit the dedicated website.

Scilab welcomes its 2015 Google Summer of Code students

Students projects have been selected for the GSOC 2015. Here is the list of accepted projects and students: Xcos Automatic Layout (Chenfeng ZHU) Xcos provides a graphical editor which allows to represent models with block diagrams by connecting the blocks to each other. However, as the number of blocks increases, an Xcos schema can become messy. This idea of this project is to provide options to automatically update the layout of a Xcos schema and keep the diagrams well-presented.  Mentors: Paul BIGNIER, Clément DAVID Improving ATOMS Packaging System (Kartik GUPTA) This project aims at

Scilab at ESA Summer of Code in Space 2015

Scilab is one of the 23 projects that have been selected as mentoring organization for the fifth edition of the program ESA Summer of Code in Space (SOCIS) is a program run by the European Space Agency. It aims at offering student developers stipends to write code for various space-related open source software projects. Through SOCIS, accepted student applicants are paired with a mentor or mentors from the participating projects, thus gaining exposure to real-world software development scenarios. In turn, the participating projects are able to more easily identify and bring in new developers.
