Teratec Forum 2012

27-28 June 2012 at the Ecole Polytechnique, Palaiseau - France The Scilab Consortium attends for the fourth consecutive year the Teratec Forum, international meeting for High performance Numerical Design and Simulation. The Forum is held this year under the general theme "Design by Simulation". Google Summer of Code 2012

Selected projects for 2012 edition Easy and Interactive Plot (Caio Lucas dos Santos Souza) Make an Interactive graphics for Scilab, where users can edit by simple click and retrieve data from point, curve, surface and modify the position of an entity by click and drag etc. Mentor: Sylvestre Ledru Various improvements for the Scilab graphic features (Gustavo Libotte) The main objective is to improve various aspects of the Scilab graphics. Scilab for High Schools

A new edition of the leaflet of corrected exercises in statistics and probability for French classes (2de, 1re and Tle) using Scilab is available for download This leaflet is provided to help French mathematics teachers using Scilab in statistics and probabilities for the application of French 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 high school programs.  It is only available in French. stats_proba_042012.pdf 1.25 MB

Scilab in Linux Pratique

An article on Scilab is available in #70 of the French Magazine Linux Pratique Entitled "Scilab : réalisez des programmes interactifs avec interface graphique" - Scilab: make interactive programs with GUI, the article on page 25 of the magazine explains how to help the user to create a GUI with Scilab. Scilab has been chosen by Google for the 4th consecutive year as mentoring organization The Google Summer of Code allows students from all over the world to work on open source software development in granting them a stipend. French Engineering Sciences Olympiads

Scilab supports the 2012 French Engineering Sciences Olympiads National competition, the French Engineering Sciences Olympiads are open to high school classes (Première and terminale French levels in S and STI2D sections) from general education and technology high schools. Scilab is proud to support the Engineering Sciences Olympiads and to reaffirm its commitment to the world of education. STI2D Reform

The Scilab Consortium and teachers have been jointly working to develop and make appropriate tools and resources available With STI2D reform and for teaching engineering sciences in preparatory classes for the grandes écoles, the Scilab Consortium provides teachers with free open source tools: Scilab, Xcos and dedicated modules ; CPGE, Coselica and NIDAQ (read more). STI2D and preparatory classes for the grandes écoles teachers (Démosciences team) has published a dedicated website on which you can find tutorials, exercises, courses material on Scilab and Xcos (Démosciences website).
