Scilab Enterprises introduces Scilab 5.4.0, the new version of the open source software for numerical computation

You can now use the new version of Scilab. With a brand new user interface, completely reworked preferences, customize and optimize your Scilab in new ways.

Scilab Enterprises announces that a new version of Scilab, Scilab 5.4.0, is now available for download. New features, numerous improvements and many patches strengthen the performance and stability of the software with this version.

Scilab 5.4.0 adopts a new environment and thus provides Scilab users greater ease of use. The discovery of new functionalities and navigation become intuitive. Help pages are enriched with examples of use which are directly executable in Scilab and Xcos, graphics rendering, etc., and are available in more languages. For Windows users, there is no more need to be the machine administrator to install Scilab.

A user experience highlighted

This version introduces Scilab desktop which allows the user to save and restore his Scilab windows configuration. To make use of Scilab easiest and most enjoyable, the interaction is greatly improved, thanks to a unique preferences configuration interface. The environment becomes customizable, the navigation is easy and access to frequently used features is immediate.

Unprecedented graphics capabilities

Speed and quality of execution, new features to zoom and rotate in 2-D and 3-D, improved export and correction of problems related to graphics cards are significant improvements in Scilab graphics.

An accelerated simulation in Xcos

Simulations times are reduced from a few minutes to a few milliseconds.

New formats for saving Scilab and Xcos files

Scilab uses now a new default save format, SOD (Scilab Open Data). Same for Xcos the new compressed format ZCOS allows to save and load diagrams seamlessly.
