This page used to contain Scilab package for Debian and Ubuntu. Since Scilab is now available into both distributions, there is no need for this page.

For other information, my personnal website is available or the Scilab official website.

For the Scilab project, I backport some packages from Debian to Ubuntu to help the development of Scilab:
echo -n "deb http://www.scilab.org/team/sylvestre.ledru/repository/ubuntu/ jaunty main" >> /etc/apt/sources.list

FAQ

I want to build the package myself, is it difficult ?
No, it is very easy since I did all the borring and hard part.
1. Checkout the packaging files from the Debian Science repository.
svn checkout svn://svn.debian.org/svn/debian-science/packages/scilab/trunk/ scilab
cd scilab
2. Download the tarball from Scilab website
uscan --verbose --force-download
3. Install the build dependencies
apt-get build-dep scilab
4. start to build the package:
svn-buildpackage --svn-override=origDir=../ --svn-ignore-new
You might have svn-buildpackage complaining about missing packages... Install them (with the right version and it should work).

I would like to contribute to Scilab. How should I do ?
Please drop me an email or register to our dev mailing list.

I would like to contribute to the Debian/Ubuntu packaging of Scilab. How should I do ?
Register to Debian Science and send a patch to the Debian Science Maintainers mailing list.

Somtimes, I get some warnings when I start Scilab.
Yep, I know. I am aware of this. It is no big deal.

I love your work. I would like to thank the Scilab team and you!
