Final review about OpenHPC project results
The OpenHPC project final review, from System@tic cluster, took place on September 16th, 2010. This review confirmed the quality of the results of this project.
Targeting the HPC world, Scilab's capabilities have been improved by the addition of " parallel_run" parallel execution function in the 5.3.0 version (currently available in BETA version). It allows parallel computations and leverages multicore architectures and their capacities.
Furthermore, this project introduced and supported the development of the Scilab version 6. This next innovative version will propose a rewriting of the Scilab kernel to take advantage of HPC capacities as the use of big amounts of memory or multicore architectures. A first development version should be provided in the months to come.
Finally, the OpenHPC project allowed the validation of Scilab MPI concept implementation and the development of new interconnections with others software and standards.
