Scilab 5.2 offers new functionalities, in particular:
Xcos is developed simultaneously and together with Scilab, and is included in Scilab distributions. Based on Scicos (INRIA), Xcos provides a new ergonomic and efficient block diagrams editor, with functionalities for modeling mechanical systems and control systems, and is particularly suitable for industrial and academic needs.
ATOMS (AutomaTic mOdules Management for Scilab) allows the user, since his Scilab session, to download and automatically install the external module he wants to use. Available by a command line and via a dedicated interface, it also offers features to facilitate the updating of installed modules and manage dependencies between them. Finally, it can automatically load the modules installed at Scilab start.
Within the scope of Scilab GUI revision, a new text editor written in Java is integrated into Scilab and works under all operating systems supported by Scilab. Like any other applications running in Scilab, the editor can be docked, allowing the user to arrange, reposition and organize all his opened windows in sole editing window.
