Scilab software and its module for High schools are granted with the RIP label - "Reconnu d’intérêt pédagogique".
Scilab, free and open source software for numerical computation and its module for High schools have been granted with the RIP label ("Reconnu d'intérêt pédagogique” - recognized as having educational value) by the committee decision of June 15, 2011. Awarded by the French Department of Education, this label is designed to guide teachers in selecting tools that meet the needs and requirements of the educational system.
For many years, the Scilab Consortium has been involved in education to provide teachers and students with a dedicated version of Scilab and with educational resources. Scilab software, well known in business and industrial fields, also meets the specific needs and expectations of the educational world.
In awarding the RIP label to Scilab, the French Department of Education confirms the importance of the Scilab Consortium commitment to the mission of adapting and providing software for educational purposes. This award is in accordance with the Académie de Versailles (French educational authority for Versailles area) and the Scilab Consortium partnership, signed in January 2009, to promote and encourage the use of Scilab software in the Académie high schools.
Freely available for download online, Scilab is an ideal tool for teaching and learning. Students can work independently and responsibly while learning mathematical concepts. At school or at home, the use of Scilab by students and teachers is favored. The module "Scilab for high schools" offers 55 dedicated functions for class work (analysis, arithmetic, sets, graphic, probability and statistics, etc.).

The use and skills acquisition with Scilab represent a real opportunity for students, including an investment in the future from scientific education to professional use.
