Established in 2003 at the initiative of
INRIA,
the Scilab Consortium has joined the Digiteo research network on July 1st, 2008.
This evolution, which results from a reflection undertaken by the Consortium
for more than a year, provides an appropriate response to the sustained growth
of the operation.
The new organization anticipates an intensification of the resources of the
Consortium with for major objectives to strive for excellence in the areas
considered strategic by its members, to integrate recent research outcomes,
to expand the community of contributors, to develop a powerful open source
ecosystem, and to consolidate the operation at the European and international
level.

However, the Scilab Consortium keeps a privileged link with INRIA as
the Institute remains one of its members, continue to support actively
its development and is also a founder member of
Digiteo.
Digiteo is the first world-class research park in Ile-de-France dedicated
to information and communication science and technology (ICST). Bringing
together the expertise of 1,200 researchers from six institutes on the
Saclay plateau, Digiteo offers new collaborative possibilities for ambitious
research projects.
